Greetings, horror fans!
The team here at Gallows Hill is back. So let’s start by addressing the elephant in the room. What happened after the first issue?
The first issue of Gallows Hill Magazine went out for Halloween 2017. Many things happened for that first issue, but ultimately the team wasn’t ready to replicate its success.
After a few months of digging through the slush pile of submissions and coordinating new interviews, reviews, columns, and more, we decided to take a brief hiatus.
While our readers begged for more, we wanted to regroup so that we could build a sustainable structure to our publishing process, redesign the magazine, bring in new contributors, and start working with a new submissions program.
All of these improvements have helped us create a magazine that is better run, more efficient, and far superior in content.
If you liked the first issue, man do we have a treat for you.
We are keeping what worked and improving upon some of the key strengths that made us so unique. And now, we will be bringing you MORE fiction, MORE interviews, and MORE reviews. While the magazine itself is slated to come out quarterly, we will be constantly publishing new fiction and non-fiction exclusively on the GH website between issues.
For now, we are open for submissions and will be completing a lot of the back-end work that needs to be updated. Our goal is to relaunch web-exclusive material this spring and a second edition of the magazine sometime in summer. Until then, you can check back for frequent updates about how we’re doing here.
Thanks for continuing on this journey with us.
Josh, GH Editor-in-Chief
